COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course aims to prepare students meet the demands of studying for a degree in the medium of English. In particular the course aims to familiarise students with tasks such as note-keeping, composing academic texts such as summaries and reports, authoring academic essays which make reference to independent sources and compare contrasting opinions while presenting supportive or critical arguments on the case at hand. The delivery of the course is based on real and contemporary issues. Information and references are often, but not exclusively, retrieved from the internet. Students are also encouraged to develop their communication skills and improve their presentation techniques using IT. Students should be at First Certificate (IELTS 5.0) level to attend this course.
